So you're trying to improve or start a business online. This is the FIRST step I would suggest to begin marketing your business and positioning yourself to be found by people looking for your services.

Follow the steps below and you'll be well on your way to being found through a Google search!



Step 1: Sign in or Create a Google Account

Create it if you don't currently have one. If you have one, sign in.


Step 2: Access Google My Business


Step 3: Click "Manage Now"

Once on the Google My Business page, click on the "Manage Now" button.


Step 4: Enter Business Information

Complete all your up-to-date business information. This includes the business name, address, phone number, website, and category. You want the right customers to be able to find you.


Step 5: Verify Your Business

Google will verify that you're the owner or authorized representative of the business. Verification options may include receiving a postcard at your business address, a phone call, or email verification. Choose the method that works best for you.


Step 6: Complete Your Profile

Add detailed information about your services, business hours, and attributes (such as whether your business is wheelchair accessible).

Upload high-quality photos of your completed projects, team members, and the exterior/interior of your business.

The more information the better, so Google can send the perfect customers to your business.


Step 7: Add Business Services

Encourage satisfied clients to leave positive reviews on your GMB profile.

Respond to reviews, both positive and negative, in a professional and courteous manner.


Step 9: Utilize Google Posts

Use the "Posts" feature to share updates, promotions, or news about your contracting business. Posts appear in your GMB profile and in local search results.


Step 10: Monitor Insights

Regularly check the insights section of your GMB dashboard to understand how users find your business, where they are located, and other valuable data.


Step 11: Keep Information Updated

Update your GMB profile whenever there are changes to your business information, such as new services, business hours, or location.


Step 12: Engage with Customers

Respond promptly to customer inquiries and messages through the messaging feature on your GMB profile.
